How to Check Criminal History in Wilkes County

Start with the question, not with a broad name search. The North Carolina eCourts Portal can supply a docket lead, but the Clerk of Superior Court is the Wilkes County court-file custodian. Three Wilkesboro addresses solve three different problems. The Clerk of Superior Court and the District and Superior courts are at 500 Courthouse Drive. The jail next door at 502 Courthouse Drive handles custody operations. Sheriff incident-report copies come from 201 Curtis Bridge Road, while sheriff administration is at 381 Executive Drive. Incident record

Agency material about a reported event. Public basic facts are narrower than the investigative file.

Booking record

Jail intake information such as received charges, bond, housing, court date, and release status.

Case file

The court history of filed charges, hearings, pleas, orders, disposition, sentence, and costs.

SBI history

A subject's fingerprint-linked North Carolina arrest cycles and reported dispositions, if available.

Offender record

NCDAC prison, sentence, release, and some supervision data, not a complete criminal history.

Returned warrants are public court records unless sealed. Unserved process, juvenile matters, and investigative intelligence may not be available.

Wilkes Criminal Cases Joined eCourts

North Carolina completed statewide Enterprise Justice, also called Odyssey, implementation on October 13, 2025. That milestone changed older Wilkes County search advice. NCDAC covers sentenced offenders and some supervision information. It does not replace a Wilkes County jail check or the clerk's case outcome.

Jail visitation uses a separate operational process. Visitors register online before scheduling, and the county says each inmate receives one free 15-minute public-lobby visit per week. Free onsite social visits run by housing unit during published afternoon or evening windows. The current identification, approval, conduct, and cancellation rules come from the jail's official policy. No official capacity, annual booking total, mail format, deposit vendor, telephone vendor, or current remote-video price was located. Wilkes Sheriff Reports Cost One Dollar

The sheriff's published incident-report route is unusually specific. Staff at 201 Curtis Bridge Road provide copies on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The charge is $1, cash only, and the office does not keep change. No online form, email address, fax route, certified-copy fee, or promised turnaround is published for this service.

Sealed, Expunged & Restricted

North Carolina uses several expunction statutes, not one universal process. G.S. 15A-146 addresses dismissed and not-guilty matters. Some qualifying cases disposed on or after December 1, 2021 may be expunged by operation of law within the statutory period. G.S. 15A-145.5 covers eligible nonviolent convictions and has exclusions, waiting periods, prior-record rules, and filing requirements.

Petitions normally go to the Clerk of Superior Court in the county of the case using current AOC forms. Many petitioned conviction remedies carry a $175 fee, though the correct charge depends on the statute and indigency rules. After an order, the clerk notifies agencies, and SBI processes designated state history and fingerprint records. An arresting agency may retain investigative material where the law allows.
